Yes, Darby is two and a half and still hadn’t reached the “first haircut” milestone… Until today!! She has never had much hair, but what she did have was starting to look so ragged no matter how pretty I tried to make it. Yesterday evening Eric and I decided a pixie cut was in order for our little princess. So this morning we headed to Cool Cuts for Kids and Cinderelly got a new do!!
Happily waiting for her hairdresser!
Loving to get a haircut, while sitting in a car and watching a Barbie movie!
Pretty bow to match her Cinderella dress:
The other day Darby had way too much fun playing with some stamps. By the time she was finished, she had me wondering if she would grow up to be a Hollywood make-up artist. She certainly has the “wounded” look down! Don’t you agree?
One thing is for sure: Darby certainly knows how to have a good time… and make a mess! But making a mess is part of being a kid. It’s also part of her daily activities. You think her face is a mess after playing with stamps? You should see her ROOM after she plays in it. 🙂
So I bought some fun props from the dollar section at Target – a leprechaun hat, green necklaces and 2 different funny headbands – HOPING to do a fun photo shoot with my kids so I could post some cute pictures for St. Patty’s Day. Well, it’s a good thing I didn’t have high hopes for this photo shoot. Darby doesn’t sit still anymore and she would rather make silly faces then smile – even when I ask her to smile like a princess! The props were pretty much completely useless because no one would have a thing to do with them. I couldn’t even get Darby to keep the necklaces on! Needless to say, I got a lot of pictures with a good view of right up Darby’s nose.. and of course Finn wasn’t having it either!
Here are the best of the worst:
This one sums up the photo shoot perfectly:
Oh how I LOVE my little Irish babes!! HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!!
Yes. Darby has a parrot! Her parrots name is “Parrot” and (s)he (not sure which it is, I’ll have to ask later) – flies into the room at random times. Parrot is at the dinner table, A LOT. We always know when Parrot is around because Darby says “flap flap” when it’s flying into the room – and Parrot always lands right on her arm or fingers. Did I mention that Parrot repeats EVERYTHING we say? Well, (s)he does! Here is a video I took the other night with my iPhone. It’s dark and hard to see, but cute none the less.
With out further or do, here is Darby and her smart Parrot!
Wow, my posts are few and far between these days! But I’m sure you all understand that life with 2 kids is twice as crazy and leaves me barely any time to do things I want to do! Miraculously (and knock on wood) BOTH kiddos are napping right now so I thought I’d pop on as quickly as I can and post while the getting is good!
Like I said, life has been crazy, but we are surviving! Finn is getting SO big, almost 2 months old already! Little miss Darby Doo is growing like a weed too! I had to take her to the Dr last week (double ear infections, boo!) and she weighed 32lbs – I can NOT believe I have a 2 1/2 year old! Yikes! Not to mention that she will be in Preschool in September. Where has the time gone? Geeze!
Here’s a video from when Finn was just 1 week old. My how the time flew! Darby still reads to Finn all the time, and (fingers crossed) since Finn is getting less colicky (Hurray!!) the interaction is just totally adorable. He is coo-ing and smiling up a storm and Darby just loves talking to him.
I am really hoping Finn shares in Darby’s love of books! It is by FAR her favorite pastime – followed by coloring and dressing up in her costumes! She is even starting to memorize some of her books – like Pinkalicious – that she is reading to Finn in the video. She knows the first few pages by heart and it is adorable!

Things are busy over here, but we are surviving! After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, colds for every member of our family (including little Finn!), termites in the garage (and who knows where else – real thrilled about that!) and Eric making it back to work – the kids and I are in SOME WHAT of a routine. Well, that might be pushing it a little, but I like to think so. Everyday is different in its own way, but I can count on a few things: Darby will take a nap for at least and hour and a half and come hell or high water I will get myself in the shower at some point!
Regardless of the challenges, I LOVE our family of 4 and wouldn’t have it any other way. Plus, people make it with a lot more kids than two. Two is totally manageable. Although MORE manageable when Eric is home then when he is not 🙂 Just saying.
I can not believe Finn is almost 4 weeks old! Where did those weeks go!? He is almost a full month old. He is a MUCH more fussy baby then Darby was. I don’t think Darby ever really cried unless she was hungry or teething. Finn is a different story, and it’s been a challenge, but slowly we are figuring out what works to help him .. and what does not! He is a champion nurser, a booby baby thru and thru. Back when he was 5 days old he weighed 7lbs 13 oz and when he was a week and 5 days old he weighed in at 8lbs 9oz! That’s almost a pound in a week! It was relieving to know that all the cluster feedings and power nursing wasn’t for not!
I have a lot to catch you all up on – pictures from his birth and birth story, the holidays and just cute moments in general. Hang in there with me while I get caught up. I’m not making any promises on when that will be exactly, but it will happen!
For now, here’s a few to tide you over!
I think they look so much alike in these two pictures!
